Probate, Estate & Trust Administration

Lawton Law Firm helps clients who have recently lost a loved one navigate the legal system in order to properly settle the decedent’s estate.

Often a probate court proceeding is required to transfer a decedent’s property, and Lawton Law Firm represents the Personal Representative of decedent’s estate when this is necessary. Probate proceedings involve the management and distribution of a deceased person’s Probate Estate.

Contrary to popular opinion, probate is not something that should be avoided at all costs. Having property pass through probate does not trigger any taxes, and has certain advantages over many non-probate alternatives.

When a client has created a trust as part of an estate plan, Lawton Law Firm helps get the trust funded, and advises trustees on how to properly administer the trust. Lawton Law Firm also represents corporate and individual trustees in accounting and termination proceedings when court supervision is required.
